About Me
In the simplest, here-and-now sense, I am living what I teach.
I am a natural birthing and parenting mama to Amelia (4), Egan (2) and Talula Skye (9 months). At their very young ages they have managed to teach me what it means to love something more than you can believe.
Just as importantly, they have brought me to my life’s work. Helping other women realize the power they have within to give birth is how I respect birth and make a difference in other women’s lives.
I’ve experienced both a hospital and 2 home births, and it was after the first homebirth that I realized, in countless ways, how my life had been altered. Believing in the decision to birth my baby safely at home has changed my life, and now I hope to change others.
Besides experiencing homebirth firsthand, I’ve been an apprentice midwife for two and a half years and am a student of the Ancient Art of Midwifery Institute.
I am the Pregnancy Editor for Bella Online, and I write weekly articles about homebirth, having a natural pregnancy, nursing, etc. as well as critiques of the latest birth research.
We are new to Flagstaff, Arizona. I am so honored to be able to offer a new homebirthing option to the mamas, babies and families here. I am currently accepting clients under the supervision of Shell Walker, LM/CPM. In taking care of my clients, and with Shell’s help, I am working towards licensure in Arizona, as well as the CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) credential.
